This gene encodes a protein that binds to the C-terminal repeats of breast cancer 1 (BRCA1) through a phospho-SXXF motif. The encoded protein recruits ubiquitin interaction motif containing 1 protein to BRCA1 protein and is required for DNA damage resistance, DNA repair, and cell cycle checkpoint control. Pseudogenes of this gene are found on chromosomes 3 and 8. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.

Flow cytometric analysis of CCDC98 expression in HT-1080 cells using CCDC98 antibody . Green, isotype control; red, CCDC98.

Immunocytochemical staining of HT-1080 cells with CCDC98 antibody (Cat #61883, 1:1,000) . Nuclei were stained blue with DAPI; CCDC98 was stained magenta with Alexa Fluor® 647. Images were taken using Leica stellaris 5. Protein abundance based on laser Intensity and smart gain: Medium. Scale bar, 20 μm.

Western blotting analysis using CCDC98 antibody . Total cell lysates (30 μg) from various cell lines were loaded and separated by SDS-PAGE. The blot was incubated with CCDC98 antibody and HRP-conjugated goat anti-rabbit secondary antibody respectively. Image was developed using FeQ™ ECL Substrate Kit .

Western blotting analysis using CCDC98 antibody . CCDC98 expression in wild type (WT) and CCDC98 shRNA knockdown (KD) HT-1080 cells with 30 μg of total cell lysates. Hsp90 α serves as a loading control. The blot was incubated with CCDC98 antibody and HRP-conjugated goat anti-rabbit secondary antibody respectively. Image was developed using FeQ™ ECL Substrate Kit .

Validation of CCDC98 knockdown using flow cytometry. Wild-type(WT, Blue) and knockdown(KD, Green) HT-1080 cells were stained with CCDC98 antibody and analyzed using BD flow cytometer.
